Site Rules

Harassment Watch exists to document primarily online harassment targeting leftist and marginalized communities. As such, we must be careful not to endanger any members of our community even as we seek to callout and defend ourselves from instances of harassment. As such, we must agree to follow basic guidelines- these are subject to change and may not be comprehensive. Ultimately, we ask that you use common sense, and make every effort to protect the safety of yourself and others at all times.

no doxxing

The site exists to combat harassment, not enable it. We will operationally define doxxing thusly:

Doxxing is sharing any piece of Personally Identifying Information (PII) that the target has not made publicly available on any publicly accessible platform without consent.

Even with consent and prior publication, the following are never allowed under any circumstances:

• Nudes
• Physical Addresses (including but not limited to residences, places of employment, schools, mailing addresses)
• Financial Information (bank information, account numbers, social security numbers)
• Phone Numbers
• Any personal information about minors (names, ages, photos, school/work/daycare)

Any screenshots containing any of the above must be redacted so as to completely cover or remove the offending content or else are subject to immediate removal and the posting account being banned without warning.

Additionally, while other pieces of information may need to be posted on occasion to prove harassment or the identity of harassers, we ask that you please exercise caution and refrain from posting the following unredacted unless absolutely necessary, and never when it belongs to targets of harassment or members of our community:

• First or Last Names
• Deadnames
• Email addresses
• Unrelated handles for social media platforms, particularly those that have been made private

no hate speech

We do not claim to be journalists, we are not the government, and are under no obligation to consider any perspectives other than the ones posted by our community. Any of the following will be considered offending content and will be removed immediately, with a ban for the offending user:

• Racism
• Misogyny
• Sexism (including misandry)
• Homo/Queer/Transphobia
• Classism
• Ageism
• Ableism
• Discrimination of any protected class

no threats

Violence, and threats of violence (or any other illegal acts) will not be tolerated. This includes wishing for harm, self-harm, or suibaiting.

no copyright infringement

Look, IP law is stupid, we all get it, but we don't need the soulless husks at Capitalist Enterprises LLC getting the site shut down (ie, the ultimate harassment). Any infringing content is subject to immediate removal, and repeat offenders may be banned without prior warning.

avoid editorializing

While we are not subject to any journalistic standard, this resource is only valuable as a reliable, relatively accurate source of information, and as such we request that you refrain from offering personal thoughts or opinions of the content presented. Stick to the facts, and leave the discussion to other social media platforms in order to preserve the usefulness of this resource.

be nice

Remember that we exist to protect the most vulnerable members of our communities, and as such our priority should always be kindness toward victims, and we should similarly avoid being unnecessarily cruel to harassers. Our aim is to stop harassment, not get revenge- this is not a platform to bully our harassers or enemies, only to document their harassment. As a leftist community, we will not be immune to internecine disagreements, please try to preserve mutual respect and deescalate conflict so we can maintain this as a neutral resource.
